If on her first album she became known as a singer who added her own style and personality to great songs, her second album, Mais (1991) – produced by a team of musicians of her generation, and featuring her first songs co-written with singers/songwriters Nando Reis and Arnaldo Antunes –, revealed Marisa Monte’s great talent as a songwriter with a style of her own, which reflected her multiple musical influences. Produced by Arto Lindsay in New York and Rio de Janeiro and featuring Ryuichi Sakamoto, John Zorn and Marc Ribot, Marisa had another huge popular hit with the song “Beija Eu”, which was co-written with Arnaldo Antunes and Arto Lindsay, and another acclaimed tour. With a career spanning more than 30 years, Marisa Monte produced music, videos and information on different types of formats and media that are today part of a virtual archive housed on a cloud service, where all of her works have been digitized, catalogued, restored and organized. Cinephonia (2020) features, for the first time in audio streaming, 30 songs recorded by Marisa in VHS and DVD, as well as “Acontecimento” (Hyldon), never before released.
