About

How to promote your music to radio in 2024?
Local radio stations still play an important role in reaching a wider audience and gaining national recognition nowadays. In this panel we will discuss the specifics of the different stations as well as the do’s and don’ts of approaching them with your music.

Speakers:

Simon Claridge (Breakfast Show Presenter ARA City Radio)

Simon has been at ARA City Radio since January 2021, first as a newsreader and host of « Eclectica » – a show dedicated to the history of electronic music in its many guises. Since May of this year, Simon has been hosting the daily Breakfast Show. Although relatively new to radio, Simon has cultivated a life-long enthusiasm/passion/obsession for music, including DJing techno across Europe throughout the 1990s and sporadically creating weird musical compositions.

Ana Cristina Mendonça Gonçalves (Radio Host and Producer at Radio Latina)

Ana Cristina is responsible for music and culture at Radio Latina. She started her career at Radio Latina in 1999 as the host of a morning show. After that she hosted different shows with a greater focus on cultural events. Since 2016, she is in charge of the promotion of Luxembourg-based artists, with live showcases and interviews every Friday.

Charel Dormans (Eldoradio Morningshow Host)

From an early age, Charel has always been interested in music. He started playing the keyboard, E-Guitar, and piano in several bands. After high school he attended SAE in Cologne to get his Sound Engineering diploma. In 2014 he started working for Eldoradio as a producer, being responsible for advertising. In 2021, he became the host of the morning show on Eldoradio.

Jamie Reinert (Head of music at radio 100,7)

Jamie Reinert is the head of music at radio 100,7, Luxembourg’s public service radio station. He is not only a strong supporter but also an active member of Luxembourg’s thriving music scene. Introducing, sharing and collaborating with exciting new acts from the national community lies at the forefront of his work.

Sam Steen (Head of programming, Breakfast Show Host at Today Radio by RTL)

Sam Steen is well known in the Luxembourg radio scene, he was behind the mic on Ara City Radio for 12 years before making the move to RTL where he helped set up and create « RTL Today Radio ». Currently on air Monday to Friday from 6-10am he also oversees the scheduling, and day to day running of Luxembourg’s only 24h 7/7 English language radio station.

Valeria Wiwinius (Culture Journalist at RTL Luxembourg)

After living, studying, and working in London as a Fashion Journalist and Stylist, Valeria came back to Luxembourg and started her journey at RTL in 2020. Most of her work evolves around lifestyle and culture, especially music. She is one of the two presenters of the radio show « Am Takt », which focuses solely on Luxembourgish music.

Panel Moderator:

Duncan Roberts (Journalist at Luxembourg Times)

Originally from Manchester, England, Duncan has been a journalist in Luxembourg for over 30 years, focusing on politics and culture. He has reported on the local music scene, interviewed touring musicians and written countless concert reviews for various publications in the Grand Duchy. Prior to arriving in Luxembourg he worked in music retail, managing shops for a chain of outlets in London.
