The Sound of Data is a project aiming to bring together the worlds of science and music by turning scientific data into music, using an innovative and experimental approach: data sonification.
This exclusive opening of the final show of The Sound of Data project will give you the opportunity to catch Max Cooper’s insight on the links between science and music : how science, following his personal background and approach, can serve as influence or inspiration to music-makers, how one can interrogate the importance of innovative technology in today’s music industry, how music can serve scientific purposes as well as an alternative communication tool beyond words.
A panel discussion will then give the floor to both researchers and musicians of the artist residency to talk about their motivation to participate in The Sound of Data project and share the highlights of their journey in the world of data sonification, followed by a networking cocktail to connect artists and research scientists.
Speakers: Pol Belardi (Sound of Data artist), Catherine Elsen (Sound of Data artist), Oliver Glassl (research scientist – University of Luxembourg), Djamila Aouada (research scientist – University of Luxembourg) and Valery Vermeulen (music producer and artistical partner of the project).
Host: Michele Weber (Fonds National de la Recherche)
