About

What are the different stages in the composition process, from demo to finished track, and what makes a good song?

Let’s start the year by having a look at the beginning of every musical project: the song. A selection of musicians and songwriters will take you on the journey of their most successful song, from the idea through the writing process to the studio and finally, the release.

Event organized in association with The Grund Club Luxembourg & FLAC.

Speakers:
Jana Bahrich (Francis of Delirium)
With just three EPs, Luxembourg-based Jana Bahrich’s Francis of Delirium have quickly caught attention, finding champions in the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum, The FADER and many more. A restless energy and desire to connect with the listener lies at the core of the band, with Jana’s personal lyrics being underpinned by an undeniable rock sound that is as liberating as it is intense. Recently Jana also co-wrote EDSUN’s song « Finally Alive » for the Luxembourg Song Contest.

Daniel Balthasar (Daniel Balthasar, Daniel Balthasar & Band)
Daniel Balthasar has released 8 full-length albums and 2 EPs in 20 years. He recorded in the most renowned studios across Europe, from Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios to Wisseloord in the Netherlands, the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, the Château d’Hérouville near Paris to Ocean Sound in Norway. Together with his band, he played numerous concerts in Europe and abroad and he was the first Luxembourgish musician to be invited to perform at South-by-Southwest Festival in Austin/Texas in 2006. In 2023, his ‘No Islands’ project took him to Iceland where he recorded intimate acoustic songs featuring a mixed choir.

Priscila Da Costa (Judasz & Nahimana, Ptolemea)

Initiating projects like Judasz & Nahimana and Ptolemea in 2018, her musical endeavors reflect a penchant for dark and experimental aesthetics. Priscila thrives on sound experimentation, crafting compositions that serve as a canvas for individual interpretation. Through evocative lyrics, she invites listeners into a realm of personal reflection, infusing each creation with a distinctive and original flavour. In 2014 Priscila also joined The Grund Club Luxembourg.

After a short break he is back with his new single ‘An op der Schell do hängt ëmmer nach mäin Numm’, about heartbeak, which marks the start of a new era and his third album.
