About

Black Stone Cherry: "Screamin’ At The Sky" Album Summary Kentucky rock band Black Stone Cherry triumphantly returns with their eighth album, "Screamin’ At The Sky," released on September 29th via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. This self-produced album, recorded in a classic Kentucky theater, marks a high point for the band, featuring emotive pop-rock hooks, powerful dynamics, and exceptional musicianship. Album Themes and Production The album’s central theme is resilience and moving forward amidst personal loss, as articulated by vocalist/guitarist Chris Robertson. Despite exploring dark themes, the album promises hope and redemption. The band recorded the album at The Plaza Theater in Glasgow, Kentucky, capturing its unique acoustics and adding a dynamic depth to their sound. Band Lineup and Legacy Black Stone Cherry consists of Chris Robertson, Ben Wells (guitar/vocals), John Fred Young (drums), and new member Steve Jewell Jr. (bass/backing vocals), previously of the band OTIS. Over the past two decades, Black Stone Cherry has revitalized Southern rock with their distinctive style and has shared stages with numerous rock legends. Their previous album, "The Human Condition," saw significant success, especially in the UK and Canada. Track Highlights The album opens with the title track, featuring powerful riffs and drums reminiscent of John Bonham. Other standout tracks include "Nervous," an autobiographical piece balancing hard rock and melodic elements, and "When The Pain Comes," an anthem about overcoming challenges. The single "Out Of Pocket" and the lighter, sing-along track "Smile, World" showcase the band's versatility and ability to blend introspective lyrics with explosive choruses. Band’s Current State Having endured challenging times, Black Stone Cherry emerges stronger and more cohesive. "Screamin’ At The Sky" reflects their journey through pain and triumph, resulting in what they believe to be some of their best work to date.
